Strategic Vision Unveiled at Global Stage
At the ITB Berlin 2025 travel trade show, the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC)hosted a dedicated seminar titled “The Next Chapter of Maldives Tourism – Berlin Edition.” Held on March 4, 2025, the session highlighted key strategies for shaping the future of tourism in the Maldives.
The event attracted tourism professionals, media, and international stakeholders, offering a forward-looking view of how the Maldives plans to remain competitive in a rapidly evolving global travel market.
Emphasis on Sustainability and Diversification
Key topics included enhancing sustainability within the tourism sector, promoting regional development, and introducing niche experiences to attract a wider range of visitors. The Maldives aims to diversify beyond luxury and honeymoon markets, appealing to solo travelers, cultural explorers, and eco-conscious tourists.
MMPRC emphasized that sustainability would remain central to destination marketing, with special initiatives on marine conservation, eco-tourism, and renewable energy adoption within the hospitality industry.
Strengthening European Travel Ties
Germany remains one of the Maldives' top five inbound markets. The event reaffirmed Maldives’ commitment to expanding marketing efforts across Europe, particularly in Germany, France, Italy, and the UK.
Partnerships with airlines, tour operators, and digital platforms are being scaled up to improve destination visibility and booking conversions. The seminar also introduced several upcoming campaigns including “Visit Maldives Week” and new interactive tools like the Visit Maldives Academy and Data Dashboard.
