A New Chapter for an Iconic Luxury Resort
W Maldives, one of the country's most iconic lifestyle resorts, officially reopened on March 1, 2025, following a comprehensive multi-million-dollar renovation. The refurbishment reflects W Hotels’ global rebranding strategy, blending bold design with local inspiration and sustainability.
Known for its trend-setting atmosphere and vibrant energy, the resort’s relaunch marks a significant update to both guest experience and brand identity in the Maldivian luxury market.
Reimagined Villas and Interiors
All guest villas have been redesigned with nature-inspired elements, incorporating soft curves, organic textures, and patterns that echo the Maldivian environment. The overwater villas now feature design motifs inspired by whale sharks, while the beach villas integrate themes related to mangrove ecosystems.
The interiors offer an elevated sense of space and flow, supported by high-end finishes, upgraded tech, and expanded lounging areas both indoors and outdoors.
Refreshed Culinary & Social Concepts
As part of the relaunch, W Maldives introduced new food and beverage concepts, including revamped menus, expanded cocktail programs, and a refreshed look for WET bar and FIRE grill. Guests can expect immersive culinary experiences curated around local seafood, global fusion, and sustainable sourcing.
The resort also enhanced its wellness and watersport offerings, introducing new yoga programs, diving excursions, and exclusive retreats designed to capture the essence of “Detox. Retox. Repeat.” — a signature W ethos.
Elevated Brand Positioning
General Manager Idu Ribeiro shared that the renovation aims to reaffirm W Maldives’ reputation as the ultimate luxury escape for stylish travelers, while staying true to the brand’s playful DNA. The refreshed experience is designed to attract new-gen luxury travelers, especially from Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific.
The reopening positions W Maldives to stay competitive in the evolving high-end tourism segment, where personalization, sustainability, and aesthetics are increasingly driving booking decisions.
